Just finished a chat with Dan on the Internet. Communications are amazing. He is still at a base in the northern part of Iraq. He says he will be going on a dangerous mission starting this week. The original plans changed. He says he's a bit nervous as this will be dangerous but he's ready to do some work. They have been waiting for a week or two as plans keep getting delayed and changed.
Dan asked that I thank everyone for their faith and prayers on his behalf. He says he's well, well trained, and ready to do his job. As with the rest of us , he is anxious for the elections. He is hoping for a republican win but understands it isn't looking too promising right now. They worry about the impact on the marines and their assignments.
He reports that its been cold and rainy where he is and he's hoping the warm socks we are sending him will arrive soon. The government issue aren't the warmest I guess.
He also said he is now the counter sniper for his platoon. He was pretty happy to be chosen which reflects on his marksmanship. I asked him what that meant and he said that if they get in a situation where they are fired upon by a sniper, its his job to take the sniper out from over 300 yards to protect the others.
That's today's update. He said to express to everyone his love and thanks for your support. Thanks as always for your prayers and interest in Dan!
