Today's phone call

Dan called early this morning. He told us that they are now doing night patrols so they are sleeping during the day and working nights patrolling the area. He said things seem very quiet and safe. The Iraq forces have now officially taken over so they are now backup. When we asked what changes are there, he said that they can no longer enter homes for inspections without obtaining permission from the family.
Dan said it has been very cold and he is grateful for a good heater in his LAV. He reported that he is doing well otherwise and that working during the night wasn't bad since when they are outside they are moving around so the cold isn't so bad.

He is getting a bit tired of the rumors of what will happen next and just wished he could know what the future assignments will be or when a change will happen if it does. He has heard they will stay in the desert, go to a big base soon, and other stories in between. Ah, the life of a marine when you just get orders without advance notice of what the future will bring.

Happy New Year to all and thanks for your prayers and interest in Dan.
